Creation of a church

Approx. 50% of the population of this area are Muslim. Some are followers of natural religions. The Christian faith entered from the end of the 40s of the 20th century, mainly by Swiss and German missionaries, gave to thousands relief from the fear of the forefather minds and gave new hope and perspectives for her life. Big and living municipalities originated which are united in the Protestant local alliance of Cameroon (union of the Eglises Evangéliques ouch Cameroun = UEEC).

Development of the municipality of UEEC

The UEEC now counts about 700 congregations and branch communities with about 138,000 church attendants and 60,000 children in Sunday school. Because the barren region in the north of the country offers too little livelihoods, people have been migrating to cities and other rural areas for decades, where they are again gathering in communities and shaping society. This is why today there are distributions of the UEEC over almost the entire country.

The wide impact of the municipality of UEEC

In addition to community work, UEEC is active:
  • In education and training: schooling, training for girls (CEFMA), training of leaders for the work of children and adolescents, theological education (Biblical schools and biblical institute)
  • In the medical-diaconal field (OM = medical work of the UEEC)
  • In the support of agriculture and village development
  • Since the crisis by the influence of Boko Haram: support the refugees to build a new existence.
